Onboard, I experienced the Lufthansa First Class service, including welcome amenities and champagne. The menu featured caviar and vodka as a starter, followed by sea bass as the main course. I sat in Seat 1A, located in the nose area of the aircraft, offering good privacy and a view over the cockpit. Enjoy the scenic view over Greenland and Western USA before landing in Los Angeles. The most roach-infested US cities

Cockroaches have been around since the age of the dinosaurs. Yet despite their impressive longevity, roaches rank among the most repellant of insects. They are hated for their ability to spread disease and their unpleasant appearance and smell. This despite the fact that cockroaches actually play a positive and multifaceted role in various ecosystems. No matter, though: the mere sight of one of these bugs is enough to induce a range of negative emotions, anything from disgust to anxiety, stress, and embarrassment. Roaches are ubiquitous in some of America's largest cities and metropolitan areas. In fact, the American Housing Survey has identified 15 cities that are especially prone to roach infestations. Click through and discover the areas with the highest frequency of cockroach sightings.

An Epic Flight - Flying the Ilyushin IL-76 Cargo Transporter to Iraq

This week, I flew on the SilkWay Ilyushin IL-76 transporter from Baku to Erbil, Iraq. The flight involved a strong team of 5: 2 pilots, a flight engineer, a radio controller, a navigator, a loadmaster, and 2 technicians. Before takeoff, the captain and loadmaster introduced the cockpit and cargo cabin, featuring a crane system and ramp system for loading without infrastructure. This IL-76TD-90 model is equipped with new stage 4 noise compliant Perm PS90 engines, replacing the older Soloviev D-30 engines. What are eVTOL aircraft, and can they fly against the hype?

In April 2024, a Japanese company took delivery of an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, otherwise known as an eVTOL. Fifteen years ago, the notion of an eVTOL was just a concept, with skeptics branding the idea as science fiction. Today, the sale of Prosperity 1 marks a major milestone in the development of what's known as Advanced Air Mobility, and with it, the prospect of air taxis becoming a reality by the end of the decade. But who's responsible for introducing eVTOL, and how has this revolutionary method of travel evolved? Click through and launch this gallery that explains more about eVTOL aircraft.

Why does nearly all life on Earth breathe oxygen?

Every breath that every animal and person around the world takes may seem like a simple task, but it is actually a quiet collaboration with the planet that has been in existence for billions of years. The oxygen we inhale—this colorless, odorless gas—is the very life force of the planet. And, yet, oxygen is not the most abundant gas on the planet. In fact, nitrogen comprises about 78% of the Earth’s atmosphere. So why do almost all lifeforms need oxygen to live? The answer has to do with our biological history, and how our planet evolved over an incredibly long time. Oxygen is the fuel to our cells and the key element that sustains entire ecosystems around the globe. Click through this gallery to see how it became such an important part of life on Earth.
